After two of the best coaching performances of his career, head coach Matt LaFleur followed it up with one of his worst. The Packers completely melted down in an embarrassing loss to their arch rival today. The final score may have been 31-29 but the game was never close. The Packers wouldn’t allow that the way they played.
Jordan Love returned to action wearing a Brett Favre jersey to the stadium this morning. He then promptly played like the Hall of Famer, but with different results. Love threw four touchdowns but balanced it out with three interceptions that had to make the ole’ gunslinger proud. The difference is Favre won these games most of the time. The Packers are now 0-2 in games Love has started and Love has been a turnover machine so far this year.
When the game was being decided the Packers couldn’t do anything offensively. Only a muffed punt by the Vikings gave the Packers some first half points. And that was lucky considering LaFleur blew a gasket on the sidelines trying to get a timeout. He ran on the field and jumped up and down like a three-year old kid who was refused ice cream. You don’t see that from grown-ass men very often, especially one who is a leader of men. I hope a hefty fine comes his way.
Defense still a joke
The Packers have played two good offenses and two bad offenses. They beat the two bad offenses and couldn’t stop a nose bleed against the two good offenses. Being the fourth game of the season and coming off a dominating performance in Nashville, you would have thought the defense would be ready to play against the hated Vikings. Nope.
It had to be the easiest 28-0 lead ever build in the NFL. The Packers offered little or no resistance against the Vikings attack led by all-world quarterback Sam Darnold and former Packers’ running back Aaron Jones. It’s the same old Joe Barry defense we’ve all come to love and adore.
Packers still don’t have a kicker
I’m not exactly sure what general manager Brian Gutekunst saw in a kicker who made only 78% of his kicks in college. Brayden Narveson makes you long for the good ‘ole days of Anders Carlson. I mean, what the hell was Gutey doing? The Packers are screwed again this year at the kicker position. They better work on their fourth down packages a lot during the week because Jan Stenerud is not walking through that door.
The Packers now head to Los Angeles to face the Rams still looking for their first win with Jordan Love at quarterback. The Rams are severely banged up on offense so the Packers might have a chance to win this one. They had better.
