Former Green Bay Packers placekicker Mason Crosby has not spent any time in the NFL this year other than a cup of coffee with the Los Angeles Rams. But he might get his chance this weekend.
According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, Crosby is set to sign with the New York Giants as a practice squad player. However, Crosby will be elevated to the active roster for their Christmas Day game against the Philadelphia Eagles following an injury to starting kicker Cade York.
“Another kicker change for the #Giants: They’re signing veteran Mason Crosby to their practice squad, sources say. He’ll kick for them on Christmas Day against the #Eagles. Cade York is headed to practice-squad IR after aggravating a leg injury in practice this week,” Garafolo wrote on X.
Injuries and poor play have forced the Giants onto their third starting placekicker of the season. They started the season with Graham Gano as their kicker but cut him after missing six field goals. Then they turned to veteran Randy Bullock, who suffered an injury of his own against the Saints last week.
Now they have to hope that Crosby can turn back the clock on his 39-year-old legs for at least one game.

Mason Crosby was the starting kicker for the Green Bay Packers from 2007 to 2022. He is the Packers’ all-time leader in points scored and passed Brett Favre for the most games played in franchise history.
Crosby has never missed a due to injury game and has led the league in extra point attempts and extra point conversions on three separate occasions.
Will Crosby have a good game for the Giants this week?
