This week, we got yet another reminder of how lucky Packers fans are with our team’s ownership structure.
Beyond a superior record and an edge on the injury report, the Green Bay Packers will have another factor on their side on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints: the weather.
The Saints — who are of course a warm-weather team that plays in a dome — have played in exactly one game in the last 14 years where the temperature at kickoff was below freezing. That’s according to one breakdown of the weather forecast for the teams’ week 16 game, set for Monday Night Football.
That’s a fun storyline heading into this weekend, particularly with the forecast calling for some snow on Monday. But if you are looking for a little bit more schadenfreude today, which has hardly been in short supply this season, look no further than the New York Jets.
This morning, a story dropped on The Athletic that looks at Jets owner Woody Johnson and his meddling in team affairs. It’s a truly impressive breakdown of the extent to which Johnson (and his teenage kids, apparently) are involved in the team’s decision-making, from player acquisition to playing time to awarding game balls in the locker room.
Let this be yet another reminder that the Packers have the best ownership structure in North American professional sports, and it feels timely given the team’s impending honoring of outgoing president Mark Murphy at halftime of Monday’s game.

Wondering if Love is truly healthy? He has a 116.3 passer rating when under pressure since the bye.
Weather Could Be Factor for Packers-Saints on Monday Night | SI.com
The weather should be perfect for a big Josh Jacobs game: temperatures in the high 20s, some snow during the day, and light flurries during the game.
Ranking worst mistakes for all 32 NFL teams since 2020 – ESPN
The Packers’ “worst” mistake as defined here is their decision to draft Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt in the first round in 2021. Not surprisingly, that is one of the least-damaging decisions on this list, ranking 31st out of 32 teams. Thank goodness the Bears outbid them in a trade of a 2nd-round pick for Chase Claypool, as Chicago’s execution of that trade ranked them 11th.
Woody Johnson’s Jets: ‘Madden’ ratings, a lost season and ‘the most dysfunctional place imaginable’ – The Athletic ($)
One of the architects of the #3 move on the list above (acquiring Aaron Rodgers, of course), Johnson’s approach to owning the Jets is on full display in this exposé. And it’s not pretty — he blew up a Jerry Jeudy trade because of the receiver’s insufficient Madden rating and seemingly insists on undermining his staff at every turn.
