Plus, they’re coming from all over.
The Green Bay Packers have made a living out of generating big plays this season. Even with Jordan Love limited by injury, the team has created a massive number of explosive plays, something that is borne out in a handful of advanced and conventional statistics.
For example: the team ranks 15th in the NFL in average number of plays per drive, but 5th in yards per drive. Love and company are also third in net yards per pass attempt and the run game ranks sixth in yards per carry. Additionally, nine different players have at least one reception of 20 yards or more.
The red zone continues to be a problem for this team, but getting there is not — the Packers rank sixth in red zone opportunities. Now they need to figure out how to put the ball in the end zone more consistently once they get there, something they have excelled at in the past.
Let’s look more at those big plays on this Thursday morning, including one of them that came from an unexpected source.
