Keisean Nixon recovered his own fumble, even if the refs refuse to acknowledge it
If you wanted to paint a disaster start for the Green Bay Packers, an opening kickoff fumble would certainly suffice. That’s exactly what happened on Sunday when Keisean Nixon was hit by former Packers third-round pick Oren Burks to start the game, leading to the ball being jarred loose.
After a scrum, it was decided by the officials that the Philadelphia Eagles had recovered the football. The play was later reviewed, though, before the Eagles’ offense could ever see the field, and FOX’s crew found a telling overhead angle of the play.

Based on what’s happening in the video linked above, it sure appears that Nixon recovered his own fumble and would have been down by contact before the dog pile and Eagles recovery ensued. For whatever reason, the play stood after review, giving Philadelphia the football at the Packers’ 28-yard line.
After two Saquon Barkley carries, Jalen Hurts’ first pass of the game was an 11-yard touchdown strike to Jahan Dotson with 13:21 left in the first quarter, putting the Eagles up 7-0 after the PAT, despite the Packers starting the game with the ball.
Thanks to Brad Allen’s crew for completely screwing up the start to this playoff game.
