Well this isn’t the best way to go into the 2024 Playoffs for the Packers.
Nearly two weeks ago the Packers clinched a playoff spot against the Saints.
Fast forward to the end of the Regular season and the Packers are on a 2 game losing streak.
Furthermore the Packers ended the regular season with a 1-5 record against NFC North opponents.
Sundays loss to the Bears might have not meant anything to the Packers playoff seeding but it does hurt their momentum.
But does ending the Regular Season on a sour note mean anything?
Or does momentum mean anything as the Packers take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round?
How the loss hurts the Packers
While the Packers clinched a playoff spot two weeks ago, they had a chance to improve their position.
But since the shut out of the Saints, the Packers have done nothing to show they are worthy of being in the 2024 Playoffs.
Of course losing to the Vikings hurts, and losing yet another close game hurts.
But if the Packers pulled off the victory, you are looking at the Packers being possibly a 6 seed even with todays loss.
Which would’ve meant the Packers would face the LA Rams.
The same team the Packers beat earlier this season.
While the Rams didn’t have several key weapons, this was probably a favorable matchup for the Packers.
Instead the Packers are in the same place they were last year, as the 7 seed and face a tough road ahead.
Momentum
The loss also hurts the Packers momentum.
Backing your way into the playoffs isn’t the best thing to do.
For the Packers losing to a division rival that is on a losing streak for a couple of months is a complete momentum killer.
Furthermore, this is a team without their head coach, an organization in disarray.
Its understandable, if the Packers lose to the Vikings the week before.
But it seemed like during the Bears-Packers game that the Packers were still in a funk.
Matt LeFluer asked the team during the week to play mistake free football, and the Packers did anything but that.
What needs to be done
Any given week, anything can happen.
But the Packers have a tough road if they have any hopes of getting the to Super Bowl.
That starts in Philadelphia against the Eagles and their high powered offense and defense.
The Packers began the season with a loss against the Eagles in Brazil.
While the outlook looks foggy for the Packers, they still have a chance.
They will have to play to their strengths.
What does that mean?
Play Packers football.
Which means running the football effectively, setting up the pass game on offense.
It means creating turnovers and attacking the ball on defense.
it also means playing mistake free, complementary football.
If the Packers can do that and beat the number 2 seed in the NFC, they may have some momentum to go off of.
Conclusion
Losing two games and backing into the 2024 Playoffs isn’t the best thing to do, especially if you are the Packers.
But it is important to remind fans that the season is not over.
The Playoffs is a completely new season.
We’ve seen teams over the years that dominate during the regular season, but fail to deliver in the playoffs.
Just ask the 2010 Atlanta Falcons or the 2011 Packers.
The hill might be tough for the Packers in the 2024 Playoffs, but they have all the talent and coaching to be a Super Bowl team.
So, in the end what I am trying to say is, we’re on to the playoffs.
