Alexander has played 10 snaps since October 27th
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Green Bay Packers will be without cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee) against the New Orleans Saints. If true, Alexander will be the Packers’ third preferred starter who will not suit up for Green Bay tonight. The Packers already ruled out nickelback Javon Bullard (ankle) and middle linebacker Quay Walker (ankle) on Saturday.
Without Bullard and Alexander, the Green Bay secondary will likely feature Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine as starting outside cornerbacks and Keisean Nixon in the slot. The question is what they’ll do at safety, where Evan Williams (quadricep) is questionable for the game. If Williams is out, it will likely be special teams ace Zayne Anderson starting opposite of Xavier McKinney tonight. There’s a hint that the Packers are concerned about Williams’ status, as they elevated practice squad safety Omar Brown to the gameday roster earlier today.
Alexander has played all of 10 snaps since he was injured at the end of the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8. He played those snaps two weeks later against the Chicago Bears, when he dropped out in the first quarter. If he really does miss this game against the Saints, he’ll have been a non-participant in six of the Packers’ last seven games.
