Duggan will reportedly receive a promotion in Green Bay
When it was announced that former Green Bay Packers linebackers coach Anthony Campanile took the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive coordinator job, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Tom Silverstein reported that a candidate to replace Campanile in Green Bay was Sean Duggan — an internal candidate. Duggan, who was a co-defensive coordinator under Jeff Hafley at Boston College, served as a defensive assistant with the Packers in 2024.
Now, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero has reported that the expectation is that Duggan will be the team’s new linebackers coach. At the moment, this is the final vacancy on the Packers’ coaching roster.
Earlier this offseason, Green Bay replaced quarterbacks coach Tom Clements, who retired, with Sean Mannion, a former Matt LaFleur quarterback who was an offensive assistant in 2024, and defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich, who was fired, with former New England Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington. If you want to know what Rebrovich is up to, it’s been reported that he’s signed on as the assistant defensive line coach with the Buffalo Bills — a clear demotion.
The only question about the coaching staff now is what role Luke Getsy will play. The former two-time offensive coordinator was hired as a “senior offensive assistant” earlier this offseason. At the time, he was considered a potential offensive coordinator candidate should Adam Stenavich leave for a play-calling opportunity. After striking out with the Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans, though, it appears that Stenavich will return to Green Bay for the 2025 season.
