Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas thought he was being pranked on Tuesday.
When Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst called him to deliver the news that he was being traded to the Buffalo Bills, he hung up on him because he thought it was fake.
Rasul Douglas said that he found out that he was being traded somewhere in the 3p.m. hour on Tuesday.
He said that Packers GM Brian Gutekunst called him and said they were trading him and Douglas hung up on him because he didn’t believe him.

Douglas eventually realized that it was real when Packers president Mark Murphy called him to thank him for his contributions to the team.

When something like this happens, it’s obvious that the player didn’t expect to get dealt.
With Douglas off the Packers, he’ll now try and help the Bills get back to the playoffs and potentially bring home the team’s first Lombardi Trophy.
Right now, the Bills have a 5-3 record and are one game out of first in the AFC East.
Their next game will be this Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff will be at 8:20 p.m. ET and it’ll be nationally televised by NBC.
