Okay, we have all seen the experts make predictions for each of the teams in the NFL including the Green Bay Packers. But we haven’t heard from all of the experts with regards to predicting Packers wins and losses! I propose a game.
After using the correct prompts, I asked three AI (ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini) chatbots if they “want to play a game?” Of course, each one said yes and made suggestions for which game for us to play. I replied by saying that I want to play a different game.
What is the game that I want to play? Well, it’s a prediction game! I asked each AI if it would like to compete against other AI in a game of predicting the Packers record for the 2024 season. Their responses were all different other than the fact that they all agreed!
Each AI’s Response To The Predicting Packers Game:
For me, it was important to see the AI chatbot’s response to wanting to compete against one another. What is competition if those who are involved aren’t fully understanding of the objective. Here are the responses from each AI:
ChatGPT’s Response:
Copilot’s Response:
Gemini’s Response:
As you can see, they were all very much willing to participate against one another! Gemini probably had the best response, “I’m in. Let’s see how my predictive abilities stack up against the other AI.” That was a fun response!
What is the predicting Packers game?
The predicting game for the AI is quite simple, using whatever algorithms they follow and the AI’s own capabilities. So, I tasked each one to predict each game for the Packers. For each game the AI predicts accurately, they will receive ten points. Additionally, ten points will be given if the AI predicts Green Bay’s final record. Also, in case of a tie, I have the chatbots predict Jordan Love’s final passing yardage number. So, the AI that is closest without going over will win the tie breaker.
So, What Are Their Predictions?
Gemini’s Prediction
Copilot’s Prediction
ChatGPT’s Prediction
So, as you can see, Copilot has my favorite prediction with a record of 11-6, but honestly all three are optimistic about the Packers chances.
Analyzing The AI’s Predictions
While predicting Packers wins and losses can be difficult, one can tell that the algorithms for these AI chatbots are similar in a lot of ways, which might have simplified the game a bit for them. Overall, their predictions were similar to one another. Even in their predictions, ChatGPT and Gemini had the same record prediction at 10-7 while Copilot had 11-6.
One thing of note of note on Copilot, it had a typo on its list of games. It switched the names of the Vikings and the Bears around in week 17 and 18. So, I just assumed it meant to have week 17 down as a loss to the Vikings and week 18 as a win against the Bears.
Additionally, all three of the AI had the Packers winning the same eight games. Those wins were:
- Week 2 – vs. Colts
- Week 4 – vs. Vikings
- Week 6 – vs. Cardinals
- Week 7 – vs. Texans
- Week 9 – vs. Lions
- Week 13 – vs. Dolphins
- Week 16 – vs. Saints
- Week 18 – vs. Bears
So, I’m sure you can spot the one similarity between all of these games. They are all home games, so they must understand how difficult it is to win a Lambeau and incorporated that into their predictions.
Notable Differences
Gemini and ChatGPT were almost identical. They had just two games that they differed on. In week five, Gemini has the Packers beating the Rams while ChatGPT does not. And, in week eight, ChatGPT has the Packers winning against the Jaguars while Gemini does not.
Copilot had the most differences. Being the only one, Copilot predicted wins against the Eagles in week one, the 49ers in week twelve, and the Lions in week fourteen. Also, Copilot was the only one to predict a loss to the Bears in week eleven. Additionally, Copilot sided with ChatGPT in predicting a loss to the Rams and agreed with Gemini in predicting a loss to the Jaguars.
Because their predictions are fairly close, there is a good chance that there will be need for a tie breaker as mentioned in the beginning. So, here are their predictions for Jordan Love’s final passing yardage for the 2024 regular season:
ChatGPT
Copilot
Gemini
Of course, only time will tell which AI will win this one. So, at the end of the season, I will do a follow up article to determine the winner based on the guidelines set in this one. I’m looking forward to find out who wins.
Either way,
Go Pack Go!
