The Seahawks will be out their starting running back tonight
On Friday, the Seattle Seahawks listed running back Kenneth Walker — who missed all three practices this week with a calf injury — as doubtful for their team’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. He was the only significant player on the bubble for the Seahawks, and Seattle officially ruled him out leading up to kickoff.
Without Walker, a combination of Zach Charbonnet, Kenny McIntosh and George Holani will rotate in at the running back position. Among those options, the leader — by far — is Charbonnet, who has turned 97 carries into 400 yards and seven touchdowns this season. McIntosh has 11 carries this year, while Holani has yet to carry the football.
The Packers will be down two significant players of their own in nickelback Javon Bullard (ankle) and cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee). Without those two defensive backs, the expectation is that in nickel sets cornerback Keisean Nixon will be playing in the slot while Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine are the team’s outside cornerbacks.
The good news is that Green Bay will get several players back this week, including linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hamstring), receiver Romeo Doubs (concussion) and safety Evan Williams (concussion). Only two healthy players are inactive for the Packers, considering the status of their roster: receiver Malik Heath and offensive lineman Jacob Monk. Green Bay, yet again, doesn’t have a backup interior offensive lineman on paper coming into this game, but the Packers have shown the willingness to play tackle Kadeem Telfort at the guard position in a pinch. If center Josh Myers were to go down, left guard Elgton Jenkins would likely slide inside in relief.
