Isaiah Bond reportedly has a visit lined up with Green Bay
According to Houston-based reporter Aaron Wilson, former Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond has pre-draft visits set up with the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills, beyond his local pro day with the Atlanta Falcons. The Buford, Georgia native won’t count against the Falcons’ allotted 30 pre-draft visits, as he is within their local pro day footprint.
It’s worth noting that Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst and Green Bay vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan, who interviewed for just about every general manager opening that came up this offseason, both traveled to Austin for Bond’s pro day. Bond’s trip to Green Bay, considering that the front office already got a look at him at the combine and his pro day, is likely so the coaching staff can get familiar with the prospect.
Bond is a little smaller than Packers head coach Matt LaFleur generally likes at 5’11” and 180 pounds. Usually, LaFleur’s receivers tip the scale at over 205 pounds on a per-snap basis. The fact that Bond recorded a 4.39-second 40-yard dash and was measured as having the second-highest tracking speed at the combine, only behind Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston, might lead to Green Bay breaking their mold at the position, though.
Bond is currently ranked as the eighth overall receiver on the consensus draft board and the 70th overall prospect in the class. His former teammate, Matthew Golden, is expected to be a first-round pick.
After starting his career at Alabama, Bond transferred to Texas following the retirement of his former head coach Nick Saban. Last year, he posted 34 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns for a team that made it to the college football semifinal. He finished third on the team in receiving yards behind Golden and tight end Gunnar Helm. He ranked sixth on the team in receptions and fifth in receiving touchdowns.
At Alabama in 2023, he was the team leader in receptions and finished second behind 2024 third-round pick Jermaine Burton in receiving yards and touchdowns.
