But Emanuel Wilson is the number two ball-carrier
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and got plenty of sleep after overdosing on tryptophan yesterday.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about who saw the most action in the Green Bay Packers’ win over the Miami Dolphins. With a couple of injuries on the defensive side of the ball, the Packers made a few surprising decisions on their depth chart this week. Follow along as we dive into those and any offensive snap counts that stood out from Thursday night’s action.
Packers vs. Dolphins snap counts
Quarterbacks
- 54 snaps: Jordan Love
Running Backs
- 42: Josh Jacobs
- 15: Chris Brooks
- 4: Emanuel Wilson
The running back room is interesting right now. Chris Brooks has played 40 snaps over the last two games, the most over any two-game stretch this season with the Packers, but has only carried the ball seven times (17.5 percent) over those reps. Meanwhile, Emanuel Wilson has only played 19 snaps in Green Bay’s last two games but has ran the ball 11 times (57.9 percent). So Brooks is the RB2, but plays more of an all-around role while Wilson is looked at as the team’s number two ball-carrier.
Receivers
- 51: Christian Watson
- 48: Dontayvion Wicks
- 36: Jayden Reed
- 9: Bo Melton
- 1: Malik Heath
Tight Ends
- 49: Tucker Kraft
- 15: Ben Sims
Without Romeo Doubs (concussion), Dontayvion Wicks saw a huge uptick in snaps played this week. This isn’t shocking, but Wicks did have a pretty close split with Melton last week once Doubs went down. If there’s any takeaway here, it’s that Melton isn’t as close to pressing Wicks as the top man off the bench as we might have thought coming in.
Offensive Linemen
- 54: Sean Rhyan, Zach Tom, Rasheed Walker, Josh Myers and Elgton Jenkins
The Packers’ starting offensive line played every snap in this game. Enough said.
Defensive Ends
- 43: Kingsley Enagbare and Rashan Gary
- 22: Lukas Van Ness
- 20: Brenton Cox Jr.
- 14: Arron Mosby
Defensive Tackles
- 45: Kenny Clark
- 28: Devonte Wyatt
- 26: T.J. Slaton and Karl Brooks
- 17: Colby Wooden
The Packers’ heavily-rotated defensive line continues. There are 10 total contributors on the team and that probably isn’t going to change anytime soon. For what it’s worth, Kingsley Enagbare looks like the team’s top option at defensive end opposite of Rashan Gary, despite Lukas Van Ness, Brenton Cox Jr. and Arron Mosby making some splash plays.
Linebackers
- 71: Quay Walker
- 63: Isaiah McDuffie
- 32: Eric Wilson
When it was announced that Isaiah McDuffie was going to be active for this game, this was the lineup we expected to see. If there’s any surprise here, it’s that Ty’Ron Hopper — who got his first regular-season snaps on defense of his NFL career last week — didn’t see the field once against Miami.
Cornerbacks
- 71: Keisean Nixon
- 36: Eric Stokes
- 35: Carrington Valentine
Without Jaire Alexander (knee), Keisean Nixon is a full-time outside cornerback and Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine continue to rotate opposite of him. Tua Tagovailoa didn’t attack the team’s cornerbacks much in the game, instead electing to throw into low zones and intermediate throws over the middle. If you were hoping to get an answer at this position, you’re probably going to need to wait another week.
Safeties
- 71: Xavier McKinney
- 66: Javon Bullard
- 52: Evan Williams
The Packers deployed an interesting change-up this week at the safety position. Frequently, Javon Bullard — who has been playing as the full-time slot — was playing safety in base and the nickelback in nickel sets. This allowed Evan Williams to come off the bench to play safety in nickel sets. Usually, Williams has been an every-down starter at safety.
Top Special Teamers
- 18: LB Eric Wilson
- 17: S Zayne Anderson
- 13: CB Robert Rochell
- 12: DE Arron Mosby, K Brandon McManus and LB Ty’Ron Hopper
- 11: DE Lukas Van Ness and TE Tucker Kraft
