DL Devonte Wyatt and LG Elgton Jenkins are not going to return to the field today
Coming out of halftime against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Green Bay Packers announced that left guard Elgton Jenkins and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt would not be returning to action. Both players dropped out in the first half against the Eagles during the Wild Card round.
Jenkins was injured early on when a blow to the shoulder on a run play clearly hampered his right arm. Since leaving the game, we’ve seen both his shoulder and neck being worked on, but the injury is believed to be a stinger. Officially, the Packers are calling it a shoulder injury.
Originally, Jenkins was replaced by rookie Travis Glover, who recorded three penalties before being benched. At the moment, Kadeem Telfort is playing left guard for the Packers.
Wyatt, meanwhile, is out with what is being labeled as a lower leg injury. Wyatt is part of a five-man rotation on the interior defensive line along with Kenny Clark, Karl Brooks. T.J. Slaton and Colby Wooden. The other four players are all active for Green Bay today.
Neither injury seems particularly serious, in terms of the long-term outlook for recovery, but the Packers will need to beat the Eagles first for that to have any consequence moving forward.
