It’s combine week and the 2025 NFL Draft is 58 days away. Let’s take a look at what the first two days of the draft could look like if the Green Bay Packers traded down from the 23rd overall pick to net some extra picks.
MOCK TRADE! The Packers have traded the 23rd overall pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for the 31st, 95th, and 132 overall picks.
31st overall pick: Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon
The Michigan State transfer put together an impressive season with the Ducks. He recorded 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, four pass deflections, 55 pressures and 25 run stops.
Harmon has that bully power to drive offensive linemen backward. The former Spartan is quick out of his stance to disrupt the action in the backfield. He’s stout at the point of attack, with the power to disengage and quickly locate the football.
54th overall pick: Jordan Burch, DL, Oregon
Burch will likely be one of the popular names this week after his on-the-field workouts. He’s a well-put-together defensive lineman who can line up all over the defensive line. He’s got a quick first step and has violent hands. The athletic defensive lineman plays with a ton of power to cave in pockets.
87th overall pick: Zy Alexander, CB, LSU
Alexander looks the part of a boundary cornerback. The LSU cornerback has the fluidity to mirror and match. He uses his length to disrupt the catch point and tighten passing windows. Over the past two seasons, Alexander recorded four interceptions and 11 pass deflections.
95th overall pick: Emery Jones Jr, OL, LSU
Jones finished his career at LSU with 36 starts at right tackle to his name. A standout guard in high school, some teams may have the notion to kick him back inside where his power and mauling mentality could really shine. The Packers need to improve their depth across the offensive line and with his ability to play right tackle or guard, Jones could be an ideal target.
The Packers need to bolster their pass rush this offseason and adding two disruptors like Harmon and Burch would go a long way in helping turn the defensive line into a unit that could cause a lot of chaos. Alexander could step in on Day 1 and challenge for reps on the boundary. Jones would provide much-needed depth at both offensive tackle spots and guard.
Over the past three drafts, Brian Gutekunst has drafted 35 players. As it stands right now he only has eight picks at his disposal. If he can find a dance partner, I fully expect Gutekunst to try and trade down from 23 to get himself some extra ammo.
