The Packers have three players in this year’s game, with a few more possibilities depending on injuries and ineligibility.
The Green Bay Packers will have at least three Pro Bowlers for the 2024 NFL season. Teams for the 2025 Pro Bowl were announced on Thursday morning and the list had three Packers players on it: running back Josh Jacobs, safety Xavier McKinney, and defensive end Rashan Gary.
Jacobs is a Pro Bowler for the third time in his career, having now earned that honor in each of the even years of his career (2020, 2022). Jacobs’ 2022 season also saw him earn first-team All-Pro honors; while he will not get that status this year (look for Saquon Barkley to likely earn that honor), he has been one of the most consistent and productive running backs in the NFL this season, ranking 5th in the NFL in rushing yards and sixth in total yards from scrimmage (5th among running backs). Jacobs joins Barkley and Detroit’s Jahmyr Gibbs as the running backs for the NFC team.
McKinney makes his first career Pro Bowl in his first season in Green Bay. Having signed with the Packers as a free agent, he has recorded 7 interceptions this season after totaling just nine in his first four years combined as a member of the New York Giants. He has also barely missed a snap on defense for the Packers, coming off the field only in garbage time in a handful of games. McKinney is the lone free safety on the NFC team, while Budda Baker and Brian Branch represent the conference as strong safeties.
Like McKinney, Gary has been named to his first Pro Bowl as well, joining Nick Bosa and Micah Parsons as defensive ends on the NFC squad. Gary had a strong middle part of the season, recording four of his 6.5 sacks during a five-game stretch immediately after the Packers’ bye week, though his selection this year comes as a bit of a surprise as his sack numbers dipped a bit from last year amid the team’s switch to a 4-3 defense.
Additionally, the Packers have seven players listed as alternates at their positions. Those players are as follows:
- Elgton Jenkins, guard (first alternate)
- Jordan Love, quarterback
- Tucker Kraft, tight end
- Josh Myers, center
- Jaire Alexander, cornerback
- Kenny Clark, defensive tackle
- Keisean Nixon, return specialist
Some of these selections are unsurprising. Jenkins continues to be one of the NFL’s better guards, and he already has two Pro Bowls to his name. Clark has been to three Pro Bowls, including last season, though he has seen his numbers take a notable downturn this season.
Love was a Pro Bowl alternate last year as well, but he finished no higher than sixth in the selection order this season. The three quarterbacks on the NFC Pro Bowl team this year are Jared Goff, Sam Darnold, and rookie Jayden Daniels, while Baker Mayfield is the first alternate and Jalen Hurts is the second.
