The Green Bay Packers did not have a single finalist in any of the eight major NFL awards as voted on by the Associated Press.
The AP released the finalists for NFL MVP, NFL Coach of the Year, NFL Assistant Coach of the Year, NFL Comeback Player of the Year, NFL Defensive Player of the Year, NFL Offensive Player of the Year, NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year on Thursday.
The Packers did not have a legitimate candidate for NFL MVP, NFL Comeback Player of the Year or NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Matt LaFleur’s bid to be a finalist for Coach of the Year likely went up in flames as the Packers lost back-to-back games to end the season and ended up as the No. 7 seed. His team ended up losing all six games to the Eagles, Lions and Vikings in 2024. The five finalists were Lions coach Dan Campbell, Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell, Broncos coach Sean Payton, Commanders coach Dan Quinn and Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
Jeff Hafley had an argument for Assistant Coach of the Year after helping the Packers defense ascend into the top 10 of the NFL in yards, points, yards per play and takeaways. The five finalists were Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Lions coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.
Xavier McKinney finished second in interceptions and tied for first in total takeaways during his first season in Green Bay, and the former Giant helped the Packers become one of the NFL’s best defenses in terms of taking the ball away. The five finalists for Defensive Player of the Year were Eagles linebacker Zack Baun, Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett, Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II and Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt.

Josh Jacobs scored 16 total touchdowns and produced almost 1,700 total yards, but the Packers’ Pro Bowl running back didn’t crack the top five for Offensive Player of the Year. The five finalists were Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase, Ravens running back Derrick Henry and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Edgerrin Cooper produced 13 tackles for loss and had a strong case as the second-best rookie defender, but it was a strong year for candidates for Defensive Rookie of the Year and Cooper played in only 14 games. The five finalists were Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean, Rams defensive tackle Braden Fiske, Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, Dolphins edge rusher Chop Robinson and Rams edge rusher Jared Verse.
Winners of the eight awards will be announced at the NFL Honors show on Feb. 6.
