Green Bay Packers rookie Jacob Monk has a very interesting allergy.
The rookie offensive lineman admitted during an interview two years ago that he’s allergic to cold water.
“I’m very allergic to cold water,” Monk said, (first transcribed by Sports Illustrated). “So, a quick story, before we played Alabama my freshman year, I decided it would be a good idea to hop in the cold tub. I was like, ‘This is really cold!’ I didn’t know it would be that cold. I get out of the cold tub and go shower, and I’m just itching. I’ve got a lot of hives everywhere, and then after I get out of the shower, I end up passing out in the locker room.”
He’ll now be in cold weather quite often as a member of the Packers but wants everyone to know that he’ll be alright. He confirmed that he can still drink cold water and play in the snow.
Monk was drafted by the Packers in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Duke. He was with Duke for five seasons and was second-team all-ACC this past season.
He’ll now try and make his mark in the NFL over the next several years.
