But there is a chance that changes tonight
MAN, IT FEELS GOOD TO WALK AWAY FROM SEATTLE WITH A WIN!
The last time the Green Bay Packers went to Seattle and won a game against the Seahawks was 9 days after George W Bush raised the debt ceiling from $700 billion to $11.4 trillion.
As mentioned last week: this win did very little to change the Packers’ odds of making it into the playoffs. After last week’s loss, they dropped from 99% to 98%. According to the New York Times playoff machine, the Packers are back up above 99%.
The list of teams still in the hunt that the folks over at FanDuel are allowing bets on is dwindling by the day. NFC West and NFC South teams still maintain position as their futures are still mostly uncertain.
You cannot bet on the Packers making it, because if they win just one of their next three games, they will be locked in for the postseason. There is also a chance to make the playoffs tonight, as a Las Vegas Raiders win over the Atlanta Falcons would put Green Bay at 100% on the New York Times’ playoff machine. This seems unlikely, however, as the Falcons are currently favored by 5.5 points.
Interestingly enough: the NFCN is still not mathematically out of the question. Detroit’s loss has caused the Packers’ odds to skyrocket from +45000 to a still highly unlikely +13000. Should the Bears manage to do something REALLY funny against the Vikings tonight, those odds would only improve.
The team’s odds of winning the NFC Championship remain fairly steady. They’ve improved from +800 to +700, but that’s roughly where they’ve been for the last several weeks.
This week, what remains of the New Orleans Saints will be coming to town. The Packers are currently favored by…no freakin way….13.5
So there you go. If the Packers manage to not kick themselves in the nuts hard enough to make it onto the Steve Harvey show, they’ll lock in a playoff spot next Sunday.
