Aaron Jones is no longer a member of the Green Bay Packers, but his impact still lives on in the mind of his former head coach.
In a conversation with Kevin Clark of The Ringer, Packers coach Matt LaFleur was asked to name the most bada– person he’s ever coached. He immediately singled out Jones.
“It might be too soon, but Aaron Jones is a bada– football player,” LaFleur told Clark. “For a guy who that’s 190 pounds, and just the beating that the runners take in general. It’s like a car crash every time they get tackled.”
One specific instance of Jones’ toughness from the 2023 season stood out to LaFleur.
“I thought he shredded his knee earlier this year when we were playing the Chargers,” LaFleur explained. “I still don’t know how he didn’t get severely injured on that play, but his ability to come back later in the year and what he was able to do, I would say that is pretty bada–.”
A fifth-round pick in 2017, Jones spent seven seasons of his NFL career with the Packers, the last five of which he played under LaFleur.
He signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings in free agency last month after Green Bay brought in Josh Jacobs to be its top ball carrier.
“This is my focus. I’m not worried about the Packers. I’m a Minnesota Viking,” Jones said after signing. “I feel like we have a really good roster. We have the pieces that we need here. It’s about coming together.”
