Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been putting on a show in his last three games. The offensive struggles that Love has been portraying during the first half of the season have not been prevalent, for which head coach Matt LaFleur and the entire offense have been thankful.
The second-year QB has been making smarter decisions with the football, turning the ball over less, and has shown no signs of any injuries holding him back. With Love getting into the groove, the Seattle Seahawks may be in for a doozy on Sunday Night Football.
Seahawks Defense Should Be Worried About Jordan Love in Week 15
The Green Bay Packers face off against the Seattle Seahawks for an exciting Sunday Night Football matchup in Week 15. The Seahawks have won their last four games and taken a one-game lead in the NFC West. Green Bay has won seven of their last nine games, where both losses came against the best team in the NFL. To say the least, both teams are playing outstanding football as we come closer to the playoffs.
Seahawks Offensive Success
Most of the Seahawks’ success can be attributed to their passing offense. Geno Smith is 2nd in the NFL in passing yards and is the reason Seattle is fifth in completion percentage on almost 36 passing attempts per game, which is also among the top of the league.
With the possibility of Kenneth Walker III missing Sunday’s matchup, the Seahawks are not mad at the options they have at running back, as Zach Charbonnet had the best game of his career last week against Arizona.
Green Bay Packers Offense
Green Bay, almost opposite of Seattle, has centered their offense around star running back Josh Jacobs. 50.8% of plays from scrimmage are run plays for Green Bay, the third-highest percentage in the league. However, neglecting what Packers quarterback Jordan Love has done for this team on the latter side of their visit to Chicago would be a mistake that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll will want to avoid.
Less Is More
Since the Packers’ first loss to Detroit in early November, Love has thrown less than 30 passes in each game. When Love throws 30 or more passes in a game, the Packers are 2-3. Love is playing better football when Green Bay relies on their run game to open things up. Jacobs is enough of a threat to attract defenders to the line and has opened up the passing game for Love when he needs to throw. This has translated into team success for Green Bay.
Love’s Home Improvement
Love has made smart decisions with the football and has yet to throw an interception after their close call against Chicago. Before that, he had thrown at least one interception in every start.
Most importantly, Jordan Love has stayed healthy for a long enough period and he can build on the successes he is having. Suffering multiple injuries in a season and missing time had hindered Love’s ability to progress throughout the season and build chemistry with his receivers. Love has also gone six weeks without any discomfort in his lower half, MCL, or groin, and is witnessing the benefits of staying on the field.
Green Bay Packers Offense
As long as Jacobs continues to have success running the football, Love is going to have success passing the football when he needs to. If Seattle is unable to game plan for a complete shutdown of the star running back, they are going to have just as much trouble handling the second-year arm talent.
The Seahawks will experience issues defensively if they try and focus on doing too much to stop both the passing game and the run game. Green Bay will be able to capitalize on what Pete Carroll decides to take focus away. Taking away the run is key for the Seahawks if they want to force Jordan Love to get above that 30-pass attempt mark and increase their odds of a victory.
