The Packers RB is already thinking about how he can help the team “take that next step” for 2025
After their brutal 22-10 playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers are now looking ahead to the 2025 season. Specifically one of their biggest 2024 free agents, running back Josh Jacobs.
Jacobs was one of the few bright spots in the wildcard loss as the team’s only touchdown scorer after a huge 31-yard run to give the team some life in the 3rd quarter before the team fell short. In the locker room after the game, Jacobs was already thinking about next season and told reporters the main thing on his mind is how he can help the team “take that next step”. He mentioned the locker room will look different with a handful of players heading for free agency and added he will “try to get some guys” to Green Bay.
Josh Jacobs said the motivation for 2025 is for the #Packers to get over the hump when facing the top tier teams.
As far as next year’s roster, he says, “I know I’m going to try and get some guys in here. Most definitely that.” pic.twitter.com/7eIZrTzNLy

His full quote from the clip:
“Main thing on my mind is to figure out how we take that next step…how do I help the guys take that step? The locker room is gonna be different. We got some guys due for a contract this year. We don’t know what that’s gonna look like or how that’s gonna shape up, but I know I’m gonna try to get some guys here.”
Packers fans immediately perked their ears up, specifically crossing their fingers that the “some guys” includes his former Las Vegas Raiders teammate Maxx Crosby. The all-pro defensive end has been vocal about his support for Jacobs, including a tweet from this week’s after Jacobs’ big run against the Eagles.

Another name floating around after the clip of Jacobs made the rounds was former Packers and Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams. With WR Christian Watson out for the unforeseeable future after tearing his ACL in Week 18, many are speculating that the Packers could use a veteran wide receiver on the team. Adams shared on Instagram last offseason that losing Jacobs stung and said recently that he wouldn’t rule out a reunion in Green Bay.
Both Crosby and Adams are in the middle of contracts they signed in 2022. Adams was traded to the New York Jets this season but is expected to be a cap casualty which might make him easier to acquire. Crosby, however, would most definitely require a trade and for the Packers to take on the remainder of his $94 million contract.
Josh Jacobs was certainly one of the best parts of the 2024 Green Bay Packers both on and off the field, maybe he can come in clutch for the team in the offseason too!
