The Packers running back talked about his offseason wishlist at Radio Row ahead of Super Bowl LIX
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is fresh off a Pro Bowl appearance and making the media rounds ahead of Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans this week. He spoke with a few outlets on Radio Row about where the team’s at and what they need to get to their own Super Bowl, including upgrading the wide receiver room.
Josh Jacobs told NFL on NBC’s Mike Florio and Chris Simms that he thinks the Packers are about 2 or 3 pieces away from making a Super Bowl appearance. When asked what position groups are on his wishlist, Jacobs said defensive end, defensive back, and a “real” number one wide receiver. He added that he loves the guys in the wide receiver room already and that they all have the potential to be WR1.
Josh Jacobs echoed those sentiments to 97.3 The Game adding that the culture and mindset of the team are already in the right place, but that they need someone who is a “proven” WR1 who can be consistent on the field.
“I think we need a guy that’s proven to be a #1 WR already.”

Host Bill Schmid then asked the question on everyone’s mind: “One that maybe played here before?” referring to Jacobs’ former Las Vegas Raiders teammate Davante Adams. Jacobs smiled and mentioned he’s already been talking to Adams (along with Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett as well).
Rumors have been swirling about a potential Davante Adams reunion for the Packers thanks to some active player recruitments and Adams posting a photo of himself in green and gold shoes. During Jacobs’ media availability, Kay Adams added more fuel to the fire by asking if he would welcome Davante Adams back to the team. “Most definitely, most definitely,” Jacobs said enthusiastically. “We have a spot for him.”
Does Josh Jacobs want his former teammate Davante Adams to join him in Green Bay???

Jacobs called the current New York Jets wide receiver an “amazing receiver and amazing person” and elaborated on what he would bring to the locker room:
“He’s a great leader….He’s one of the guys that’s gonna put the work in. He’s gonna lead the younger guys the right way. He’s gonna give you nuggets that you can’t coach and the way that he sees the game is just different.”
On the surface Davante Adams appears open to a reunion, having told Kay Adams just last month that he wouldn’t rule out a return to Green Bay.
Shortly after the clips of Jacobs saying the team needs a true WR1 circled, a few current Packers wide receivers shared their thoughts on Twitter/X. Dontayvion Wicks simply shared some laughing and thumbs-down emojis while Jayden Reed posted (then deleted) a tweet calling out fans for being quick to drag their own teams’ players as a result of Jacobs’ comments.
