Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs wasn’t hesitant about saying his team needs to add help to get over the hump and be Super Bowl caliber in 2025.
Speaking to 97.3 The Game while at Radio Row in New Orleans, Jacobs said the Packers are still “three pieces away” — in terms of outside additions or big improvements from young players this offseason — from being capable of playing in the Super Bowl next year.

It’s unclear why Jacobs landed on “three pieces,” but it’s clear he feels his team isn’t just one major addition away.
The Packers added Jacobs and All-Pro safety Xavier McKinney last offseason and went from 9-8 to 11-6, although the first-round exit in the NFC playoffs — and the three-game losing streak to end the season — made the year feel extra disappointing despite an improvement in record.
At every turn, the Packers proved they weren’t one of the NFL’s great teams in 2024. Six combined chances to play the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions ended in an 0-6 record, a third-place finish in the NFC North and a quick stay in the postseason.
Can the Packers get the necessary help and become one of the great teams in 2025?
Jacobs pointed to one area of potential assistance: getting a true No. 1 wide receiver.

“I think we need a guy who has proven to be a No. 1 already. Someone we know is going to be a little more consistent,” Jacobs said.
The Packers have plenty of salary cap space to attack any roster holes and potentially add at least one difference maker this offseason.
So often, big-time players are the ones who win big-time games. Jacobs knows the Packers need a few more to be special in 2025.
