Let’s get to know at least one of the Packers’ new assistants.
You knew it. We knew it. Everybody knew what the Green Bay Packers’ coaching staff was going to look like in 2025.
Now, it’s finally official. The Packers announced the team’s new hires on Thursday, confirming the reports that have been around dating back to January. Luke Getsy is back. Sean Mannion is taking over as quarterbacks coach. Sean Duggan, Jeff Hafley’s right-hand man going back to their time at Ohio State, is up as linebackers coach. And DeMarcus Covington is in to replace Jason Rebrovich on the defensive line.
Covington and Duggan might be the individuals with the biggest impact on this season, however. The Packers desperately need to find a more effective and consistent pass rush from their front four, which will surely be Covington’s primary goal. Duggan, meanwhile, needs to continue Edgerrin Cooper’s development as the linebacker goes into his second NFL season.
Who are these guys? Let’s get to know Covington in particular a little bit better as we head towards the weekend.
