After letting Aaron Jones walk and signing Raiders star Josh Jacobs, we now have more of the details surrounding the two-time Pro Bowler’s four-year, $48 million contract.
Per The MMQB’s Albert Breer, Jones’ deal is a “true year-to-year deal” with the only guaranteed money being his signing bonus. Here’s a look at how it breaks down over the next four seasons:
- $14.8 million in 2023
- $12.5 million to sign
- $23 million over 2 years
- $34.5 million over 3 years
Jacobs is coming off a 2023 campaign that saw him rush for 805 yards and six touchdowns after earning a first-team All-Pro selection the year prior.
In five NFL seasons, the former first-round pick has rushed for 1,000 yards three times including a league-high 1,653 yards and 24 total scores in 2022; after which he was signed to a one-year, $12 million deal after holding out until close to beginning of the season when Las Vegas placed the franchise tag on him.
Jacobs brings attitude and physicality to a Matt LeFleur-coached team that likes to pound the rock. With so many young weapons on the perimeter, he should give the Pack solid production out of the backfield even though GM Brian Gutekunst says it was hard to watch Jones go.
Calling it “one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make in my time with the Packers and not one taken lightly,” via ESPN.com. Adding, “He has not only had a significant impact on the field and in the locker room, but he is one of the most beloved players in the community.”
