The Jets wide receiver talked about the Packers during his weekly segment on Up and Adams
It’s been nearly three years since the Green Bay Packers traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders to join his college teammate Derek Carr and since then it hasn’t exactly been sunshine and rainbows for the wide receiver. Between Carr’s benching in that first season, consecutive losing seasons with the Raiders, and most recently a Week 14 playoff elimination despite optimism after reuniting with Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets, it’s been a rough stretch. Meanwhile, the Packers have an ascending young team lead by QB Jordan Love and are trending to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons since moving on from Rodgers.
While Adams claims he doesn’t regret leaving the Packers despite their success, he’s still looking back at his time in Green Bay fondly. That includes all the times they beat the Chicago Bears during his tenure with the team (14 times…but who’s counting). On his weekly appearance on “Up and Adams,” host Kay Adams playfully suggested that the wide receiver’s 14-2 record against the Chicago Bears (14-1 with Green Bay) might be slightly overrated given the Bears’ struggles over the years. “Look, I can’t talk about winning these days,” Davante Adams joked before elaborating on how the locker room viewed the rivalry.
“Back in the day, being a Packer playing the Bears, we didn’t go into that game worrying about ‘are we going to win that game?’ We were thinking about how crazy we were gonna go in the game. ‘Can I set a record?’—‘Can I score twice?’ It was that type of feel. Not to be disrespectful, it’s just naturally it’s a Packer thing—you hate the Bears. We have respect for every team we play, but you just don’t respect them to the level of ‘they’re a top tier team that can compete with us’. You know we went into it just ready to steamroll them and hopefully have the best game of the year. It’s kind of one of those things. The Packers are a winning organization, and the Bears….have been on the other side of that.”
Guess I already have another Packers-Bears trash-talk moment to add to my collection! I can’t say that any of what he said is surprising for me or other Packers fans to hear, but it’s still satisfying to hear it. Kay Adams also asked the wide receiver, who has racked up over 1,000 yards and 10 TDs against the Bears, if he’d consider playing for Chicago. Davante responded with a very blunt “no” without a second of hesitation. When asked for clarification, Davante did his best to keep it respectful while reiterating, “I am not playing for the Bears.”
That wasn’t the only Packers topic that came up in the segment. Davante also talked about the organization’s success over the years despite losing good players such as himself, Rodgers, and Aaron Jones. “Winning organizations learn how to figure it out,” he said. “They were good before I got there and will be good long after I’m gone.” He continued his praise for the team by complimenting Matt LaFleur, who coached him from 2019-2021. Davante specifically praised LaFleur’s ability to listen to players and adapt the playbook based on personnel, something Packers fans witnessed firsthand this season when Malik Willis had success stepping in for Jordan Love due to injury.

Even though he’s no longer in Green and Gold, Davante Adams will always be a Packers legend. He holds franchise season records for receptions, yards, and touchdowns (tied with Sterling Sharpe). Adams is no doubt a future Packers Hall of Famer, which will allow us to again reminisce about all the times Adams and the Packers have demolished the Bears over the years (as if we even needed an excuse).
