Here’s a look around at the rest of the NFC North
With the Green Bay Packers playing on Monday Night Football this week, they’ll have Sunday off to watch the rest of the NFC North bat each other around. As we head into another weekend of games, here are some notes and news from around the division.
Chicago Bears
DJ Moore checks out – The Bears wide receiver is under fire for a recent comment. With three games left in the 2024 regular season, Moore responded to a question from the media with “what I’m thinking about? Vacation.” You and me both, my guy.
The indefensible year of Ryan Poles – One Chicago Bears fan and blogger sounds off on the inexcusable performance of GM Ryan Poles, who looks primed to be granted another swing at the plate despite mounting failures and fan frustration.
Davante Adams talks Bears futility – Appearing on a recent episode of Kay Adams’ “Up & Adams” show on FanDuel TV, former Packers receiver Davante Adams was asked if he’d ever consider playing for the Chicago Bears. His response was an emphatic no.
Detroit Lions
David Montgomery hopes to return for playoffs – It looks like Lions running back David Montgomery received some better-than-expected injury news this week. He was originally feared to be lost for the season after suffering a knee injury in last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. After consulting with numerous doctors, there is belief in a path to get Montgomery back at some point during a potential deep playoff run.
Available help for ailing Lions roster – Christian Booher wrote in Sports Illustrated this week about four free agent players that could potentially be brought in to bolster a Detroit Lions roster that has been decimated by injuries. With their feels-like-destiny season hanging in the balance, the Lions could use all the help they can get.
Ben Johnson on future as HC: “There’s a fire there” – Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson appeared to take a big risk last year when he passed up potential head coaching opportunities to remain at the helm in the motor city. The risk seems to have paid off though, as Johnson’s offense has continued its meteoric rise this season, leading to even more head coach interest for the Lions’ signal caller. When asked about his desire to sit in the big chair, Johnson said, “There’s a fire there.”
Minnesota Vikings
Metcalf to fans: don’t sell your tickets to Vikings fans – A week after Green Bay Packers fans flooded Lumen field and drowned out the infamous “twelves” with Go Pack Go chants clearly audible for the entire television broadcast, Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf pleaded with Seattle Seahawks fans: please don’t sell your tickets to Minnesota Vikings fans.
Do the Vikings have the league’s top receiver duo? – Writing for Sports Illustrated, Kyron Samuels dives into the rise of Minnesota’s number two receiver, Jordan Addison. With both Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison playing at the top of their games, do the Minnesota Vikings boast the top wide receiver duo in the entire NFL?
Adrian Peterson in legal trouble again – Ex-Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson is facing warrants for his arrest in Texas. The warrant stems from Peterson’s alleged failure to appear in court for two separate child support cases.
