Jordan Love delivered a masterful performance against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving last year. He threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 29-22 upset win at Ford Field.
As tradition dictates, players from the winning team enjoy a quick postgame meal on the field. However, despite leading Green Bay to an important road win, Love did not receive a turkey leg to celebrate his performance.
Well, Packers’ fans and players haven’t forgotten about Jordan Love being snubbed after his Thanksgiving heroics last year.
On Tuesday, Tucker Kraft addressed Jordan Love’s turkey leg snub in Detroit last year.
“Pretty sure Greg actually ripped into it, right? He started eating it before we got an opportunity,” Kraft said. He then promised, “We’ll make sure Jordan gets it this year. We’ll make sure about that.”
For the second straight year, the Green Bay Packers will play on Thanksgiving. They’ll play the Miami Dolphins at 7:15 p.m. CT under Lambeau Field lights. The Packers enter the game after a dominant 38-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers, while the Dolphins carry momentum with three straight victories, scoring 23 or more points in each.
Jordan Love’s streak of 10 straight starts with an interception ended Sunday against the 49ers. The Packers have a top-8 offense in EPA/play, EPA/pass, and EPA/rush. Meanwhile, Miami’s defense ranks 17th in EPA/play, 16th in EPA/pass, and 13th in EPA/rush.
Green Bay sits at 8-3, despite self-inflicted wounds being a key part of their identity. The Packers rank top-5 in drops. Jayden Reed is tied with Amari Cooper and George Pickens, each with seven drops. Additionally, Dontayvion Wicks’ 26.1% drop rate leads the league among wideouts with at least 25 targets. Furthermore, Love’s drop rate has risen to 9.9%, an increase of 4.1% from 2023.
lthough the wide receiver corps has missed opportunities, Love needs to improve his play as well. His big-time throw rate is 3.7%, down 1.8% from last year. Additionally, his turnover-worthy play rate is 4.0%, up 1.5% from 2023.
The Dolphins rank 19th in pass rush and 20th in coverage, per Pro Football Focus. Additionally, the weather forecast predicts temperatures around 27-29°F at kickoff, which should favor Green Bay.
The Packers must control time of possession and leave Miami’s offense freezing on the sideline. Tua Tagovailoa is 0-7 when it’s 40 degrees or colder. If Green Bay avoids the self-inflicted wounds that have plagued their 2024 season, they should beat the Dolphins Thursday night. Hopefully, Love plays a great, clean game and finally earns his long-overdue turkey leg.
