The Packers visit Jerryworld with no fewer than 26 players on their latest injury report. The Cowboys had 24 on theirs. But 6 of them were just on veteran’s rest days. But it still makes it tricky to find DraftKings DFS bargains.
4 wide receivers appear on the Cowboys report so they might be running the ball even more than Mike McCarthy usually wants to. Running straight into them would be a good way to take the steam out of the Packers’ pass rush too.
For Matt LaFleur, 13 of the players on the Packers report are defensive players, so he’s got a tricky job on his hands.
Super Wildcard Weekend DraftKings DFS Bargains for Packers at Cowboys
The Not Technically A Bargain DraftKings DFS Bargain Pick – Christian Watson
Watson isn’t an official bargain at $5,200 on this week’s DraftKings DFS Captains Showdown slate. But he averages more DraftKings DFS points per game than Brandin Cooks and costs $2,600 less than him. Watson averages 13.5 yards per touch and he’s caught 5 touchdowns this season.
Watson should line up across from Stephon Gilmore this week. Gilmore has been just as great as was expected this season, but last week his shoulder “popped out and they put it back in”. He was cleared to play after an MRI scan this week, but it still sounds a bit scary. Gilmore has only allowed 55.8% of passes to be completed, but Jordan Love has to throw the ball to someone, right? Might as well be the best receiver on his team. The passes that Gilmore has allowed to be completed have gone for an average of 12.4 yards though and 4 of the passes thrown his way have resulted in touchdowns.
The “Remember That Guy?” Pick – Michael Gallup
He’s only $2,800 and he’s averaging 12.3 yards per touch. That’s second only to CeeDee Lamb who is having an astonishing season. But Gallup has fallen behind Brandin Cooks when it comes to catching touchdowns. Gallup has caught 2 postseason touchdowns and averages 14.1 yards per touch in the playoffs though. Cooks hasn’t played in a playoff game since 2018 and he’s never caught a touchdown in the playoffs. He did drop one in a Super Bowl though.
This week Gallup figures to line up opposite Carrington Valentine, who isn’t a character in a Jane Austen novel. Instead, he’s a rookie cornerback from Cincinnati who went to Kentucky and was taken in the 7th round of the draft. He’s also been somewhat of a revelation, only allowing 58.5% of passes to be completed and 1 touchdown to be scored in his 12 starts this season. He has allowed 312 yards though, more than any other Packer. Gallup will fancy his chances of stretching the field and the Cowboys will need to do that to open up the run game.
The Trending Upward DraftKings DFS Pick – Bo Melton
Melton has definitely made the most of his opportunity this season. He was drafted in 2022, by the Seahawks! But had to wait until Week 12 of this season to play a snap. Since then, he’s played 139 snaps and caught 16 passes. He racked up 105 yards and hauled in a touchdown against the Vikings on New Year’s Eve.
This week he should find himself up against Jourdan Lewis. Lewis has allowed 62% of passes to be completed this season and he’s conceded 4 touchdowns. He’s also allowed an average of 5.4 yards after the catch. Melton has also run the ball 3 times since the Packers called him up and he’s averaging 7 yards per carry, so that’s something for the Cowboys to keep an eye on. At just $3,000 on this week’s DraftKings DFS Captains Showdown slate, he’s definitely a bargain.
The Ready To Step Up Pick – Rico Dowdle
Dowdle is technically still the Cowboys’ backup running back, but he’s averaging 4.8 yards per touch this season compared to Pollard’s 4.3! He costs $4,400 on DraftKings DFS Captains Showdown this week and that’s half the price Pollard costs!
The Packers have conceded 13 rushing touchdowns this season and allow 22.6 DraftKings DFS points per game to the position.
The High Risk, High Reward Guy DraftKings DFS Pick – KaVontae Turpin
Turpin is a threat running the ball and catching passes and he costs just $800 on this DraftKings DFS Captain’s Showdown slate. He’s averaging 10.3 yards per touch this season. He’s very consistent too, Turpin is averaging exactly 10 yards per rushing attempt and 10.6 yards per reception.
