Back in 2022, a worker named Jeremy Rose was burned while working on renovations for Camp Randall Stadium in Wisconsin.
Rose was working for Maly Roofing when he suffered burns to over 70 percent of his body. He has undergone multiple surgeries since then.
His attorney, Daniel Rottier, claims JP Cullen & Sons failed to follow industry safety standards at Camp Randall Stadium.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Rose settled his lawsuit against JP Cullen & Sons for $22 million. As you’d expect, his legal team released a statement on this decision.
“For over 50 years the construction industry and insurance companies have recommended the use of hot work permits to increase worker safety,” Rottier said. “There is a cost in human life and dollars in taking shortcuts when it comes to protecting workers.”
JP Cullen & Sons co-president Jeannie Cullen Schultz issued the following statement regarding this matter: “We will say that our No. 1 priority is the health and safety of everyone on our projects.”
This settlement was reached 10 days before the civil trial was set to begin.
