The Badgers have a big bounce-back opportunity on Tuesday.
Fresh off a 77-73 overtime loss to the Oregon Ducks, the Wisconsin Badgers are wrapping up a three-game home stand with a matchup against the Washington Huskies.
The Badgers, standing at 21-6, are currently 11-5 in conference play, ranking fourth in the Big Ten behind Michigan (13-3), Michigan State (13-3), and Maryland (11-5).
Saturday’s loss was a major blow to Wisconsin’s Big Ten regular-season title hopes, as they remain two games back of both Michigan and Michigan State with five games to go. While the Badgers still play the Spartans, they’ve already lost to the Wolverines, meaning they’d need to climb up three games to get into first place.
In the loss, Wisconsin struggled against Oregon’s heavy ball-pressure in the second half, getting tentative and turning the ball over 11 times, including four over the last 2:02.
Still, despite the defeat, the Badgers remained at No. 11 in the AP Top 25, thanks to their wins over Purdue and Illinois in the two games prior.
Now, the Badgers are the second-ranked Big Ten team in the AP Top 25 behind Michigan State (No. 8), while being the highest-ranked in KenPom at No. 9.
They’ll now wrap up their three-game home stretch with a game against the Washington Huskies, who have been the worst team in the Big Ten this season with a 4-12 conference play.
Washington is led by star forward Great Osobor, who followed head coach Danny Sprinkle from Utah State to the Huskies. Osobor averages 15 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, leading the Huskies in all four categories.
The Huskies average the second-lowest points per game in the Big Ten (72.6) and have the worst point differential in the conference.
