The Border Battle is coming back to Madison on Friday evening.
Fresh off a 75-63 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, the Wisconsin Badgers are heading back home for the Border Battle matchup with the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday, with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m.
The Badgers, standing at 12-3, are currently 2-2 in conference play, as they notched their second in conference play against Rutgers after starting off with losses to the Michigan Wolverines and Illinois Fighting Illini.
It wasn’t a pretty win for Wisconsin, who allowed 18 offensive rebounds and gave up 16 turnovers, but the Badgers led from the jump and pulled off the double-digit victory thanks to a strong defensive performance.
John Blackwell led the way yet again with 21 points, while Steven Crowl had another solid game, pouring in 15 while notching a double-double with 10 rebounds.
The Badgers held star freshman Ace Bailey to just nine points on 3/16 shooting, while fellow star freshman Dylan Harper played only 15 minutes due to injury and did not record a point.
Now, Wisconsin turns its attention to a rivalry matchup, as they take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers, who have started the season 8-7, including 0-4 in conference play.
Minnesota is coming off an embarrassing finish where they lost by one in double overtime to the Ohio State Buckeyes after blowing a pristine chance to win the game in regulation by fouling up two points in the final seconds.
They’ve also lost to Purdue, Michigan State, and Indiana by at least 15 points, and also dropped games to North Texas, Wichita State, and Wake Forest on their non-conference schedule.
