The Badgers might be getting their premier guard in the transfer portal very soon.
It’s been a busy week of recruiting for the Wisconsin Badgers, who have started to host some of their top transfer portal targets on visits.
One of those visits could result in a commitment soon, as 247Sports’s Travis Branham has posted a crystal ball for Wisconsin to land San Diego State Aztecs transfer guard Nick Boyd.
Boyd had visited Wisconsin last week on a visit, although other teams, including the North Carolina Tar Heels, showed interest in the senior guard as well.
After spending three years at FAU, Boyd transferred to San Diego State last season, where he averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, while shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from three.
It was a career year for Boyd, who was a starter at FAU during their Final Four run back in 2022-23.
Entering his fifth year in college basketball, if Boyd were to choose Wisconsin, he’d be a good fit next to rising junior John Blackwell in the backcourt, providing experience, playmaking ability, and ball-handling skills.
The Badgers are looking to add several players via the transfer portal this cycle, perhaps even up to three starters to join Blackwell and Nolan Winter next season.
Boyd could be one of the first additions after recently visiting Wisconsin, with things seeming to trend in the Badgers’ direction.
