Can the Badgers avoid an upset after getting ranked?
Fresh off a 103-88 victory over the No. 9 Arizona Wildcats, the No. 19 Wisconsin Badgers are taking on the UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros on Monday, with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers easily had their best performance of the year last Friday in the win over Arizona, gaining national traction after putting up 100 points over a top 10 team in the country.
The storyline was transfer wing John Tonje, who poured in 41 points on 8/14 shooting, while hitting 21/22 of his free throw attempts in a record-setting performance for the Badgers.
That prompted them to be ranked as the No. 19 team in the country one week after earning six votes, making their debut in the AP Top 25.
Now, they set their eyes on 3-2 UT Rio Grande Valley, who lost their first two games against the Nebraska Cornhuskers and No. 14 Creighton Bluejays, but have come back to win three straight, showing off a high-powered offense.
Through five games, the Vaqueros have scored 86.4 points per game, which included an 86-point performance against Creighton, as they play with a top-40 pace in the country.
