It’s National Championship Sunday. Can the Badgers finish their season with a bang?
It’s National Championship Sunday for the Wisconsin Badgers as they’ll take on the Ohio State Buckeyes with a chance to come home with hardware for the second time in three years. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m central at Ridder Arena on Sunday.
Wisconsin reached the National Championship Game with a 6-2 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Frozen Four, backed behind a hat trick from star Laila Edwards.
Edwards was one of many players that stood out in the win, as Patty Kazmaier award finalists Caroline Harvey and Casey O’Brien both totaled at least three points as well in the win.
O’Brien was selected as the Patty Kazmaier Award trophy winner earlier this week, cementing a stellar season for the senior in a historic year where three Badgers were the finalists for the award.
She became the sixth Badger ever to win the award and the first since 2017 when Ann-Renee Desbiens won the Patty Kaz.
The Badgers will now turn their attention to the Ohio State Buckeyes, having gone 2-1-1 against them this season.
