Wisconsin has a few representatives in the Super Bowl this year.
The Super Bowl is finally here, as the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday, with kickoff set for 5:30 p.m. Central.
It’s only fitting that two former Wisconsin Badgers players will suit up in the big game, with one ending up as a victor on Sunday. Kansas City linebacker Leo Chenal and Philadelphia linebacker Zack Baun will both look to be instrumental pieces for their respective teams on Sunday, with both enjoying strong seasons in 2024.
Chenal, who was drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has won back-to-back Super Bowls in his first two seasons in the NFL, while starting a good portion of games in all three years.
He has primarily played on base downs, seeing action in around 41 percent of the defensive snaps in each of the past two seasons as a starter. He finished the 2024 season with 60 tackles, four tackles for loss, three pass breakups, and three forced fumbles.
Baun, on the other hand, has enjoyed a breakout 2024 campaign where he earned both Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors for the first time in his career.
Coming over from the New Orleans Saints in the offseason, Baun had a fantastic year, posting 151 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, four pass breakups, and 3.5 sacks.
He has played in 95 percent of the Eagles’ defensive snaps this year, being a core piece on one of the best front sevens in the NFL in 2024.
Regardless of the outcome, a Badger will be a Super Bowl champion on Sunday. Will it be a three-peat for Chenal or the first time for Baun?
