The Badgers have one of the best transfer portal classes in the country.
The Wisconsin Badgers have been one of the busiest teams in the transfer portal early on, landing three commitments thus far: San Diego State guard Nick Boyd, Virginia wing Andrew Rohde, and Portland forward Austin Rapp.
Boyd and Rohde come in with one year of eligibility remaining and are currently projected as starters, while Rapp and his three years of eligibility fill the stretch four need left by Carter Gilmore and Xavier Amos.
Wisconsin, operating with a bigger budget this offseason, has quickly retooled a roster that will be without 10 scholarship players from the 2024-25 season, as six seniors and four transfers are departing.
Now, where does their transfer portal class rank in the country, and among Big Ten teams?
Well, according to On3’s transfer portal rankings, the Badgers currently have the best transfer portal class in the country. Not the Big Ten, in the entire country.
Bringing in three four-star rated transfers, the Badgers are the No. 1 team when it comes to incoming versus outgoing transfers, with On3’s proprietary algorithm determining whether a school has improved its overall team talent, stayed the same, or declined in talent during the transfer window.
Behind Wisconsin is Kentucky, which has brought in a five-star transfer (Arizona State’s Jayden Quaintance) and three four-star transfers (Alabama’s Mouhammad Diabate, Pittsburgh’s Jaland Lowe, and Tulane’s Kam Williams), among other schools.
In the Big Ten, Michigan and its three transfers come in second at No. 10 overall, although they also have five departing transfers. Washington is third at No. 11 overall with four incoming transfers, followed by Nebraska (No. 12 overall), Purdue (No. 13 overall), Ohio State (No. 14 overall), Minnesota (No. 17 overall), UCLA (No. 18 overall), and Oregon (No. 20 overall) in the Top 20.
But, it’s notable that Wisconsin has added premier talent to retool their roster, as they hope to make another push for a top seed in the Big Ten. The Badgers aren’t done yet either, as they’re expected to add at least a center, with another transfer or two potentially in the wings as well.
