The Badgers have a number of options
Fresh off a 28-13 loss to the No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions, the Wisconsin Badgers stand at 5-3 on the season ahead of a major rivalry game this weekend against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday.
It’s been a wild season thus far for Wisconsin, who started the year 2-2 with two ugly losses to the Alabama Crimson Tide and USC Trojans. Since then, they’ve gone 3-1, battling close with Penn State in their lone loss over the four-week stretch.
Now at 5-3, the Badgers are close to becoming bowl-eligible and they could do it in a big way this weekend when they face the Hawkeyes, as they look to get revenge after Iowa won the Heartland Trophy in each of the last two weeks.
With the second half of the season now coming along, where are the Badgers projected to bowl currently?
Each week, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura predict the matchup for every bowl game, and they gave their updated predictions after Week 9.
Schlabach predicted Wisconsin to make the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl against the Syracuse Orange, which has historically been a battle between a Big Ten team and an ACC team. That game would be played in Yankee Stadium on Saturday, December 28th.
Bonagura has a higher projection for Wisconsin, predicting that they will play the LSU Tigers (once again) in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl on December 30th in Nashville, Tennessee.
Wisconsin hasn’t played in the Pinstripe Bowl since 2018, which was their lone appearance there, and hasn’t been invited to the Music City Bowl since 2003, which was also their lone appearance there.
The Badgers could clinch a bowl game as soon as this weekend when they take on Iowa, which would be a big win for the program, both historically and for this season.
