Two former Badgers wideouts are going to the top conference in college football.
The Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver room is expected to look different in 2025, as there were a number of departures and additions via the transfer portal this offseason, including star slot wideout Will Pauling.
Being one of the more active teams in the transfer portal, the Badgers grabbed two potential starters, Mark Hamper, and Jayden Ballard, while losing a few starters with Pauling, C.J. Williams, and Bryson Green all gone.
There are a few other former Badgers wide receivers in the transfer portal and interestingly, two of them are heading to the SEC.
Former Wisconsin wideout Keontez Lewis, who played for the team back in 2022 after transferring in from UCLA, is heading to the Oklahoma Sooners after a strong junior campaign with the Southern Illinois Salukis.
At Southern Illinois this season, Lewis put 49 catches for 790 yards and five touchdowns. He’ll now join a revamped Oklahoma receiver room that was in dire need of new talent after a disappointing 2024 campaign.
He’s not the only former Badgers receiver to join the SEC, as former four-star wideout Markus Allen is headed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs as well.
Allen, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2022, had left the team during the 2023 offseason due to some off-the-field concerns, landing first at Butler Community College before playing at Eastern Michigan.
In 2024, he put up 43 catches for 651 yards and three touchdowns, which included a nine-catch, 187-yard game. He’s headed to Starkville to play for head coach Jeff Lebby in 2025.
