The Badgers haven’t gotten great quarterback this year. Is a change needed?

The Wisconsin Badgers are looking ahead to a major contest this weekend as they host the No. 1 Oregon Ducks on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
Wisconsin is most recently coming off a 42-10 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes, where they looked lost on both sides of the ball, as their defense couldn’t stop the run, while their offense couldn’t generate enough momentum to sustain drives.
A key issue was turnovers yet again, as quarterback Braedyn Locke threw two interceptions in the loss, continuing his streak of a turnover in every game he’s started this year. Locke wasn’t the only issue, as the Badgers couldn’t run the football, but it wasn’t a great performance from the starting quarterback, leading to questions after the loss.
Wisconsin has true freshman quarterback Mabrey Mettauer, who has been the No. 2 signal-caller since Locke ascended to the top spot following a season-ending injury to starter Tyler Van Dyke.
Mettauer’s development has been seen primarily behind the scenes this season, as he’s only suited up and played in three games, all when the game was out of hand. But, is there a point where Wisconsin could potentially make a change?
Locke’s knowledge of the playbook gives him a clear advantage, but the quarterback hasn’t been consistent with his footwork, accuracy, or decision-making, leading to some rough games thus far.
But, the Badgers may need to evaluate whether they can create a spark with another option, or whether Locke is their guy going forward at quarterback.
