It’s no secret that NIL is a major reason why the transfer portal gets so crowded every offseason. That being said, it sounds like some marquee players are making demands to teams interested in them.
According to Chase Wolfe of Prep Scouting, Wisconsin swingman AJ Storr is hoping to land $1 million from his next school.
Kansas reportedly made a strong offer to Storr, but he turned it down since it didn’t meet his asking price.
“Per a close source, AJ Storr asked Kansas for $1,000,000. The Jayhawks countered with $750,000 take it or leave it offer,” Wolfe said. “Storr left it.”
If this report is true, then college basketball may truly enter the dreaded “pay to play” territory. Coaches around the country certainly don’t want that.
With that said, it’ll be interesting to see if there’s a program out there willing to make a strong offer to Storr.
Storr started his college career at St. John’s in 2022. He entered the transfer portal after the school hired Rick Pitino.
It didn’t take long for Storr to make an impact at Wisconsin. The talented sophomore averaged 16.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game this season, earning All-Big Ten honors in the process.
