The Badgers are still active in the transfer portal.
The Wisconsin Badgers hit things off quickly in the transfer portal, landing commitments from San Diego State guard Nick Boyd, Virginia wing Andrew Rohde, and Portland forward Austin Rapp.
But, there has been a quiet period since, as there haven’t been too many names linked to Wisconsin for their next transfer portal pursuits.
The Badgers are still in need of a center to pair with Rapp and power forward Nolan Winter, but there’s an expectation that they will go after another transfer, presumably a guard/wing to fill out their rotation for the upcoming season.
One name that could make sense? North Alabama transfer guard Jacari Lane, who told 247HSHoops that he has heard from the Badgers since entering the portal.
Wisconsin was one of many teams to reach out, including Auburn, Louisville, Texas A&M, Virginia, Memphis, UCF, and others.
Lane, a 6’0, 182-pound guard, averaged 17.3 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.2 rebounds as a junior at North Alabama in 2024-25, shooting 42.3 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from three.
Lane has been a two-year starter and three-year rotational player at North Alabama, averaging 14.9 points and 3.7 assists, while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 38.4 percent from deep during that period.
A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Lane could fill a rotational role off the bench, joining Boyd, Rohde, John Blackwell, and Jack Janicki as the top guard/wing options for 2025.
Wisconsin is losing senior point guard Kamari McGee, who was the team’s sixth man this past season. If the interest in Lane is actually real, that could be the role filled.
