Can the Badgers take their momentum on the road into a tough environment
Fresh off an 83-55 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Wisconsin Badgers are starting off the week with a road matchup against the Maryland Terrapins, with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. at the Xfinity Center on Wednesday.
Wisconsin bounced back from their 85-83 loss to the UCLA Bruins with a blowout win over Nebraska, shooting well from the field, while returning to being a strong defensive team in a dominant victory.
The Badgers got great efforts from John Tonje once again, as the senior had 27 points, while John Blackwell poured in 14 of his own on the afternoon. Reserve guard Kamari McGee was in the mix as well, connecting on a few threes, while ending with 11 points in the win.
Now, the Badgers enter a matchup against a Maryland Terrapins team that has gone 16-5 on the year and 6-4 in conference play, most recently winning their last three games.
Forward duo Derik Queen and Julian Reese lead the way for Maryland, while guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie averages over 14 points per game, while shooting 42 percent from three.
Maryland has been excellent at home, going 12-1 at the Xfinity Center this season. They’ll look to extend their win streak at home, as well as their recent success when they host the Badgers in a battle between two top Big Ten teams.
The Badgers come into Wednesday as a 3.5-point underdog at home. Can they keep up their momentum with a win on Wednesday? Or will it be another win for the Terrapins at home?
