Nebraska’s first bowl appearance since 2016 will now hinge on their ability to get a win over 9-2 Iowa next weekend.
For the third straight week Nebraska took the lead but squandered it as their offense once again failed to get above 17 points in regulation. This time it happened in overtime against Wisconsin, who secured their own bowl berth with the win.
The Huskers raced out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter but gave up 17 points through the second and third quarters to lose the lead. They only managed to tie the game back up at 17-17 with a field goal as time expired in regulation.
In overtime, their defense gave up a touchdown on Wisconsin’s first drive while the offense couldn’t get a first down with their responding drive.
The loss dropped Nebraska to 5-6 on the season and that elusive sixth regular season win continues to remain as such.

The month of October saw the Huskers go 3-0 to give them a 5-3 record with four games remaining. But three straight losses have put them at risk of suffering through a seventh straight losing season.
The Huskers play their season finale against the Big Ten West champion Iowa Hawkeyes at Memorial Stadium next Saturday at 12 p.m. ET on CBS.
