One of the first games of 2023 college football season between two teams from the Big Ten West is being moved slightly.
According to Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, the September game between Purdue and Wisconsin is being moved up a day. It will now be contested on Friday, September 22 rather than on September 23.
It will be the first in-conference game for both Big Ten teams. The Boilermakers and new head coach Ryan Walters begin their season with games against Fresno State, Virginia Tech and Syracuse. The Badgers begin the Luke Fickell era against Buffalo, Washington State and Georgia Southern.
Purdue will be hosting the game at Ross-Ade Stadium. Wisconsin have won 16 straight against them and have not lost in West Lafayette since 1997.

As mentioned earlier, it’s the start of a new era for both the Badgers and the Boilermakers. Fickell is now head coach in Wisconsin and Walter is now in charge at Purdue.
Paul Chryst and Jeff Brohm took Wisconsin and Purdue respectively to the Big Ten title game a combined four times. While neither could ever snatch a title from the likes of Ohio State, Penn State or Michigan, both of them were long respected as some of the top coaches in the game.
The upcoming game between them will quickly set the tone in determining who will get off to a better start.
