The Badgers had a tough defeat in a winnable game against a top-three opponent in the country.
The Wisconsin Badgers lost their first game in over a month on Saturday, dropping a 28-13 contest to the Penn State Nittany Lions to fall to 5-3 on the year and 3-2 in conference play.
After a three-game winning streak propelled the program the past few weeks, Wisconsin just didn’t have enough answers on Saturday, leading to a tough loss in a game that felt winnable through three quarters.
Offensively, the Badgers couldn’t really get anything going, as quarterback Braedyn Locke completed just 52 percent of his passes, while running back Tawee Walker rushed for 2.7 yards per carry in a tough game overall. Locke also threw a pick-six, which ended up being the turning point in the game.
Defensively, Wisconsin held up really well, allowing just seven points through three quarters before ultimately letting up in the fourth quarter. It was a strong performance from Mike Tressel’s unit, who bounced back after an early touchdown to really limit Penn State and give their offense a chance.
Following the game, Badgers insider Rohan Chakravarthi shared his instant reaction to the Badgers’ 28-13 loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions, pointing out the major takeaways from the game.
With the loss, Wisconsin goes to 5-3 on the season and they hit the road again next week, facing an Iowa Hawkeyes team that just blew out Northwestern 40-14 to improve to 5-3 and 3-2 in the conference as well.
