The Badgers are losing one of their top 2024 freshmen to a rival Big Ten school.
The Wisconsin Badgers saw their 2024 recruiting class took a hit last week when four-star freshman outside linebacker Anelu Lafaele elected to enter the transfer portal after just one season with the program.
Lafaele, one of Wisconsin’s top recruits in their freshmen class, had seen time with the second and third-team defense last offseason, but never got the chance to earn playing time during the year, as he worked behind Leon Lowery, Darryl Peterson, John Pius, Aaron Witt, and Sebastian Cheeks at the position.
Now, he’s heading elsewhere, but remaining in the Big Ten by committing to the Michigan State Spartans.

Lafaele generated a good amount of interest in the transfer portal, earning a number of scholarship offers, and remains at a Power 4 school, despite transferring out as a freshman.
Coming out of high school, the outside linebacker earned a number of high-profile offers, including ones from Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and a good group of West Coast schools as well.
He heads to Michigan State with four years of eligibility remaining.
