The Badgers have long been known for their offensive line play. Will that be the case in 2024?
The Wisconsin Badgers had an up-and-down 2023 season, which involved some shaky offensive line play that was away from the norm for a program that has been heralded for developing talent at the position.
But, Wisconsin was dealing with some key injuries, as well as a shift to a new position coach and offensive system, leading to a lot of moving parts.
Now, heading into 2024, the Badgers have some stability, as well as some upgrades up front to potentially bolster a better unit in 2024?
Will the Badgers offensive line be a Top 15 unit in college football this year?
Ranking the Top 25 offensive lines in the country, college football analyst Phil Steele placed the Badgers right at No. 15, which came ahead of some pretty impressive schools.
At No. 15, the Badgers came in above Alabama, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Arizona in the Top 25.
Additionally, Wisconsin ranked No. 3 in the Big Ten behind only Oregon, who got the No. 3 overall spot, and Ohio State, who came in at No. 12.
Here’s what Steele said about Oregon.
“The Ducks’ offensive line unit was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award last season, for good reason. The team averaged nearly six yards per carry in 2023. They only allowed five sacks.”
“Three starters are back for Oregon this season, which should certainly help veteran quarterback Dillon Gabriel. With a transfer as well, Oregon’s unit has 144 career starts between the lot, giving them one of the best offensive lines in the country.”
Will the Badgers bounce back in 2024 up front and outperform their expectations?
