The Badgers are losing both of their starting quarterbacks.
In a massive development, Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Braedyn Locke is entering the transfer portal, he announced on Wednesday.
Locke, a redshirt sophomore this past season, was the team’s starting quarterback for a majority of the year after starter Tyler Van Dyke suffered a torn ACL on the opening drive of Wisconsin’s Week 3 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Locke started nine games this season, throwing for 1,936 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while leading the team to a 3-6 record as a starter.
Locke’s accuracy and ball placement were question marks throughout the year, as the quarterback completed just 55.4 percent of his passes on the season, but it was a tough situation as the Badgers also had injury issues at wide receiver.
The Badgers fired offensive coordinator Phil Longo with two games left in the season, raising questions as to how the quarterback room would unfold in 2025, as every signal-caller in the room was recruited in by Longo.
Locke becomes the third quarterback to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining graduate transfer Tyler Van Dyke and redshirt freshman Cole LaCrue.
Locke’s younger brother, Landyn Locke, recently signed with the Badgers as a part of Wisconsin’s 2025 class, raising optimism that the older Locke could return for another season.
But, Braedyn is set to transfer, leaving Wisconsin with three quarterbacks in their 2025 room: true freshman Mabrey Mettauer and 2025 recruits Carter Smith and Landyn Locke.
